Unless you're a child, a senior, or a bum, you probably have a job. Most of you have people you work with at said job. Unless you can go about your business without any interaction with your fellow employees, you understand the importance of camaraderie. You know that the social interactions you establish throughout the day are crucial to your sanity. A good friend in the workplace can make the day fly by, while a total asshole can cause you to hang yourself from the rafters in the stock room (we've all seen it before). Our happiness is dependent on how we interact with those around us, and as social creatures, who can blame us?
As in any business, you will find a mixed-bag of employees. There are some people that you might get along with just swimmingly, both on and off the clock. There are others that are friendly acquaintances you have no grievances with. There are some that are just there, and offer no net gains or losses to your contentment. There are those that annoy you to no end, and you take them in stride. There are a few that might be a thorn in your side, and you do your best to avoid them. And, of course, there are those that just astound you.
The last of these is why this blog was created.
See, I have been an employee of a retail store for one year, and I have a coworker that I cannot keep to myself. The world needs to know about this individual, and I will be the one to tell the story. After a year of working with this person, I can still only manage to describe this person as a "character". But the problem is, I desperately want to say more, because there's so much to say! Now, it's not that I don't like this person and I want to embarrass them; I am simply still stunned by the things they say and do, and how stark a contrast this person strikes against your run-of-the-mill human. I've know some strange folk in my life, and this one makes the rest look normal.
In the following posts, I will do my very best to paint a picture for you of who this person is. I have a year of things to say so far, which I will do my best to catch up on. In addition, I will sprinkle in new things as they happen. I also hope to garner the support of others, adding new authors to write about their experiences with coworkers that defy the norm. All stories will be the unadultered truth (you're going to have to trust me on this one). Names and locations will remain anonymous. In all, I hope to create something that will prove it takes all kinds.
